The Foundation has received a record 86 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for its 2026 Research and Education Grants program, representing a 46 per cent increase on the previous year (2025).

This result highlights the growing commitment of clinicians, researchers and educators across Australia and New Zealand to advancing intensive care through innovation, education and evidence-based practice.

Driving this growth was the introduction of two new funding opportunities: the Mindray Bedside Technology Grant and the Respiratory Support Grant. Both attracted strong interest from applicants seeking to develop new approaches, improve patient outcomes and address key challenges in critical care.

This increase reflects a healthy and growing research culture within intensive care, with clinicians and researchers actively pursuing solutions to improve patient care, advance technology adoption and strengthen workforce. Furthermore, the strength and diversity of ideas emerging from the intensive care community reinforces the importance of funding programs that support research and education with real-world impact.

Successful grant recipients will be announced following the completion of the assessment process, with funded projects expected to contribute to improving critical care practice and patient outcomes across the region.
