Supporting the Educators of Tomorrow
Dr Simon Wong’s Professional Development Journey
Dr Wong, a recipient of the 2024 Intensive Care Foundation Professional Development Scholarship, is a dedicated clinician and educator with a passion for advancing critical care education. Having trained at St Vincent’s Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Dr Wong now serves as the Simulation/Education Fellow at Westmead Hospital and a Clinical Teaching Fellow with the University of Sydney.
With extensive experience across academic and clinical settings, Dr Wong has taught over 200 junior doctors and nurses, contributed to the ANZCA 'Blue Book', edited a critical care textbook, and presented at international conferences including APELSO and WCICM.
“This recognition fuels my passion for advancing education in critical care,” he said. “I am honoured, grateful and humbled to receive the ANZICF Professional Development Scholarship, which supports my pursuit of a Master’s in Health Professional Education. Thank you for this incredible opportunity and for believing in my potential to educate myself and others.”
Dr Wong’s ultimate goal is to be a caring, approachable and respected clinician, mentor, professional educator, and future CICM examiner. The Foundation is proud to support his journey.
