Industry Supported Grants (ISGs) Policy

Principles
  • Awarded and administered according to the signed agreement with the industry partner
  • Grant topic approved by ICF Board
  • Supported by guidelines specific to each ISG and available on the ICF website
  • Whether an ISG will support the research, education or both grant streams will be decided on an individual basis
  • Identification of a grant application as eligible for industry support will not influence the scientific review process
  • Applicants are eligible for only one ISG category unless otherwise agreed with industry partners
Assessment
  • Occurs as part of the existing annual grant review process
  • Applicants self-identify as applying for one or more industry supported grants at the annual ICF grant EOI stage
  • Justification for grant suitability must be made as part of the existing application word limit and be based on the relevant ICF ISG guidelines
  • Uncertainty about eligibility for a specific ISG will be resolved by one or more members of the Scientific Review Committee who are also ICF Board Members. This decision will be final.
  • Scoring of ISGs occurs as part of the standard SRC process
  • Ranking of ISGs occurs as part of the standard SRC panel meeting
Award
  • The ultimate decision to award one or more ISGs is at the discretion of the ICF Board and will occur after presentation of the SRC panel scoring and ranking results occurs
  • Consideration of funding by the ICF board will consider the ranking provided by the SRC
  • An ISG fund may be awarded in full to a single applicant or divided between multiple applicants at the discretion of the ICF Board, unless otherwise stipulated in the industry agreement
  • if no ISG supported grant meet a sufficient standard for support at full review then a decision may be made by the ICF Board to not award an ISG
  • The standard ICF funding agreement must be used but may be adapted as necessary to reflect specific ISG requirements

As a start can have the platinum as the only level with a named grant, gold and silver with a specific purpose grant but not named, bronze neither of the above. This will have to be fleshed out with other differences but is a start
