Victorian Fundraising Update 2024

Victorian Fundraising Update 2024

Prof David Tuxen

On behalf of the Fundraising Committee, and in my role as Chair and Board Director, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to you all as we approach the end of another busy and rewarding year.

This year has been a significant one for the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Foundation (ICF) as we continue to re-invigorate our fundraising efforts.

A Memorable Event at Cranlana
In March, we hosted our second annual Victorian fundraising event – a beautiful sit-down lunch for 70 guests at the Myer family home, Cranlana. This event was inspired by the late Peter Bunn, a dear friend of the Foundation, whose pivotal role in securing a $1.5 million donation from ANZ Bank in the early 90s helped spark a national campaign to increase survival rates in Intensive Care. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Myer family, particularly Dr Dashiell Gantner FCICM, and the tireless support of Dame Janet Spooner OAM DJSJ, the event raised over $100,000, with many pledges of ongoing support.

Critical Care Research (CCR) Down Under
In December, the Foundation proudly participated in the International Critical Care Research (CCR) Down Under conference at The Edge, Federation Square. Partnering with ANZICS, we manned a booth and re-launched the Intensive Care Co-operative, an initiative designed to bring corporate partners together to support our mission.

We’re thrilled to announce:

  • Fisher & Paykel have reaffirmed their support for the next three years
  • Bella-Vista has joined as a new partner
  • Discussions are underway with many other organisations to grow this initiative further

Looking Ahead

The Foundation’s ambitious goal is to raise $10 million by 2029 into a newly protected fund, where all capital growth will be preserved to support grants. Importantly, 100% of donations will go directly to this fund, while corporate partners in the Co-operative will support our administration and fundraising overheads.

We are deeply grateful for your continued support and look forward to building on these achievements as we move into 2025. Thank you for being part of our journey to improve survival and quality of life for critically ill patients in Australia and New Zealand.
